GEORGE ABUD IS
AN arab-american actor & artist in nEW YORK CITY.
Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, he was immersed in his family’s Lebanese culture, most significantly its rich musical history. Performing came at an early age when he began studies in classical violin, but was far more interested in playing Arabic music with his family band, which included his father and two older brothers. Learning to read music in his lessons, while simultaneously learning the roots of Classical Arabic music by ear from the record player, George soon took off on a performing journey that has led him to places he never could have imagined.
After finding his voice in theatre in high school, George decided to plant his feet firmly in pursuing a life on the stage, which he felt could encompass all his artistic passions. After graduating from Wayne State University in Detroit with his BFA in acting, he immediately moved to NYC, where he did not know a single soul, and began pounding the pavement, buoyed by a fervent need to act and be on stage.
George's career is distinguished for its rare diversity of roles and works. From the adorably naive “Nerd Face” in the candy-colored fantasy Emojiland to the explosive visionary “Marinetti” in the grand historical epic Lempicka; from the funhouse mirror fever dream of "Richard Nixon" in The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical to the Buster Keaton aura of “Camal” in The Band’s Visit, George’s singular versatility has established him as one of the theater’s finest chameleons.
Above all, George’s artistry stems from what set him on his path to performing so long ago: a fundamental need to connect with others, an intrinsic yearning to communicate what it means to be alive; and, as a proud Arab-American, a profound desire to bring about a deeper, more nuanced representation for his people, their history, identity, culture–in other words–their stories.

And did I mention he’s funny as hell?”
